INCLUSIVE EMPLOYMENT
Globally, adults with hearing loss have a much higher unemployment rate.
Among those who are employed, a higher percentage of people with hearing loss are in the lower grades of employment compared with the general workforce. In the UK people with hearing loss are paid £2,000 less per year, on average, than the general population.
We support Deaf young people to develop the skills and experience to ensure they are good candidates for employment and have the skills to establish their own income generating activities or businesses. We also support businesses to ensure they are inclusive employers and will employ and support anyone with a disability.
Examples of activities in our Inclusive Employment projects are:
Training for beneficiaries
Training for businesses
Work placements/internships
Income generating activities and enterprise set up
Lobbying and advocacy
